Let’s pray for each other. “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results” (James 5:16, NLT).
Just got word that Matt’s cousin, Andrew, died during surgery. Please keep his entire family in your prayers.
Please pray for our son Matt’s cousin, Andrew. Andrew was in a bad car accident this morning and med flighted to a hospital in Pittsburgh. All I know at this point is that Andrew is in surgery. Matt is pretty shaken up, he and Andrew are very close.
Jennifer asked me to request prayers for Peyton’s step-mother, Sarah. She is having an emergency c-section this afternoon (she is at 34 weeks). She has been having problems with her blood pressure and losing amniotic fluid. The baby, Robert, also is having some issues with his kidneys and will be sent to the NICU as soon as he is born.
Boy God is Good! Please pray for our friends, Pam and Jimmy, but more importantly their daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Brendon. 4 years ago this July Brendon was paralyzed from the chest down in a freak ocean accident in North Carolina. He does not have use of his legs or bodily functions below the chest and has limited use of his hands. But he has perservered and created a new life for him and his family (2 girls age 8 and 6). Tomorrow for the first time in 4 years he is going back to the beach (VA. Beach), but not only to visit – he is going to surf. Amazing that this can happen!!! It’s thru a program called “Surf for Life”.
Please continue to pray for my friend’s 7 year-old niece. She is still in the hospital, but improving. Her spleen and the broken bones in her face are healing so, thank God, she will not have to have surgery. Her right leg has a pin in it up to her knee and she continues to have that in traction. There is still a broken bone(s) in her pelvic area and they don’t know the long-term effects on her female parts. Friday they will put her in a cast from about the waist down. Because of her injuries the cast will be in a sitting position. Depending on how well she does with the cast she may be able to go home after the weekend. The cast will be on for about 2 months then she will need to go to rehab.
The pizza driver (this is his part-time job) did not know he hit her. His full time job is as an EMT – so once he was told what happened he was able to help the little girl until the ambulance got there. Please also pray for this driver, although he is at fault, it was an accident and he has to live with the consequences of his actions.
Dear BYKOTA,
Please, be in prayer for my sister, Anne, she is currently in the ICU at Greenville Memorial. Her blood count was way below the normal level this morning causing her heart to work overtime, they are giving her blood hoping to get her count up to avoid possible stroke or heart attack. Thanks so much,
Ed
Please pray for my friend’s niece – she is 7 years old. This weekend “she was riding a scooter and a pizza delivery guy came flying down the road. Threw her 30 feet….she is in a body cast, broke what they first said was her femur and were going to do surgery to put in a plate but said it’s actually higher than the femur and “in an awkward place.” Broke her ribs so she is having difficulty breathing and has a breathing tube; not sure what happened to her spleen but they have to wait for that to stabilize before they’ll do the 2 hour surgery. Because the scooter had a bar between her legs they are worried her “female” parts might be damaged as well. From the outside of her mouth to up above her ear the skin is gone from where she scraped the road, it’s open and raw and the bone on that side of her face are cracked. She is swollen and bruised and on a good dose of morphine. They told her mother another 1-2 weeks in the hospital in traction and then 2 months in a wheelchair and then physical therapy.”
Laurie, That is awful about your friend’s niece. I will definitely be praying for her. Amber
Dear BYKOTA,
Please be in prayer for my daughter Nikki, her Mom, and their family. Richard R., Nikki’s uncle suffered a major heart attack late last night. He was currently awake and talking earlier today, he was 100% blocked when he went in, stints I guess they are called were inserted. Pray for health and a speedy recovery. Thanks.
Ed
Please be in prayer for a dear friend of ours, Rita. Her son, Richard, my oldest and most loved friend, passed away quietly in his sleep this afternoon. Although my heart is heavy, I know he gave his heart to God sometime ago.
After listening to Phil’s sermon this morning I started to second guess a recent decision I made at work. I have an employee at work (a 20 year veteran) who is Not a christian man and is very negative to say the least. He has worked for me for the past 2 years and we get along just fine, however his behavior is like a cancer on the shift and when he is not negative he uses vulgar humor constantly. When I try to correct or counsel him about his behavior I get a 5 year old response. So I submitted a request to transfer to another station to escape. But now I don’t know if I should stay and continue to try an work with him or move on. The other dilemma is that now that I have submitted a formal request to try and resend it would be frowned upon by management. Confused…….Please pray for me
Clay
I would really appreciate continued prayers for healing from pneumonia. It has been a long six weeks with swine flu, bronchitis, and now this. I really request prayer of sustaining… Thanks, Temple
I’m praying for you, Temple.
Please pray for mine and Jennifer’s father, Gilmer Beauchamp, (Blake and Peyton’s grandaddy). He is having outpatient surgery on Wednesday to remove a kidney stone. Currently he is in a lot of pain and under doctors orders to rest – he’s very stubborn and doesn’t listen well so Wednesday is “very far off”.
Thanks also for Jana for taking care of him in the ER on Friday night!!!
Laurie,
Thanks for letting us know. I’ll be praying for him, for the medical professionals caring for him, and for the family this week. Hang in there. How cool that Jana was the one to take care of him in the ER! That BYKOTA family is pretty cool.
Amber
Please include my niece, Peyton Steele, in your prayers. Her grandmother Becky Steele passed away this morning.
Please be in prayer for my Brother in-law Dean and his family, his Mom, Vivian Phelps passed early this morning.
I pray God will bring them the comfort they need during this difficult time.
A friend and coworker is 26 weeks pregnant and has just been put into the hospital on permanent bed rest until the baby comes. Please pray for her, the family, and the baby.
I had a friend and coworker decided to end his own life this past Sunday. Micah Royall he was only 33. He left behind to little boys and a wife. Micah and I went through the Fire Academy together and worked at neighboring station on the same shift for nearly 7 years. We were not close friends but I dare say that anyone that had ever meet him would not consider him a friend. He was “one of the good ones” a devoted Christian and father. I struggle to understand how something like this could happen, especially to a man of such strong faith. I was the first to arrive at the funeral home today and a man was standing outside when I pulled up (his brother). I introduced myself to him and as he did the same to me he broke down explaining to me that not only did I look like Micah I drove the exact truck, color and all. As i gave him a hug I just laughed and told him that, that was what I was getting ready to say to him. I choose not tell him that our sons were also the same age as well as Micah and myself. Again I struggle with this. Tomorrow I will stand with many of my Brother Firefighters as we will lay him to rest. Please pray for his family as they get through this………..
Sincerely,
Clay
Clay,
This is sad. I don’t understand it either. I am praying for his families–his wife and children, his firefighting family, and his church family. I’ll be praying for you as you attend the service today.
Amber
After a month of no contact, I received a wonderful phone call from my brother and his wife in China. They still don’t have phone or internet where they live, but traveled outside the area so they could call family and friends. They have obtained an apartment and furnishings. They start formal language classes next week.
Please pray for my friend, Jennifer. She has a final interview with CarMax tomorrow (Thur) morning. We have been praying for her since she was laid off from Circuit City about 8 months ago. Her interview is at 8am. Thank you!
Please continue to pray for the family and co-workers of Diane Wheat. Diane was the receptionist at CarMax for the past 10 years and everyone who works at CarMax knew and loved her. On July 24th, she went out for lunch and was killed in a terrible car accident at Short Pump Mall. There will be a memorial service for her this Tuesday in Richmond. Especially pray for her family and grandchildren. Thanks.
Susan,
I’ll definitely be praying for Diane’s family and co-workers. Thanks for sharing.
One of my friends from work lost three family members in a tragic accident (head-on collision with a drunk driver) this past weekend. Three of those involved (children) are in serious, but stable condition, however have lost their mother, and will not be able to attend the funeral this weekend. Please pray for this family during this difficult time. Thanks.
Grace,
This is so sad. I will definitely be praying for this family, especially the children.
Dear BYKOTA,
We have had yet another disaster in our family. Our niece Trisha, her husband Scott, and baby Makayla, have lost their home and everything they ever owned to a home fire this morning. Luckily, Scott was at work, Trisha and Makayla were in the out-door pool when the fire happened. Praise God there were no injuries. We have dishes, and other stuff to donate, if at all possible, would the members of BYKOTA have extra pillows, blankets, sheets, house-hold goods, bath stuff, clothing, I will get sizes, Makayla is two years old.
Blessings,
Ed
Thanks for the prayers for my mother. The surgeon said the cataract surgery went well. We will go tomorrow to get the patch removed.
Mom had an excellent appointment today – the doctor was very pleased and she can read fine print without glasses – such a blessing. Thanks for the prayers.
I’ve asked for prayers for my friend Faith, who at the age of 40 is battling Hodgkins disease. She had CT scans last week and found out last night that the chemo treatments are doing their job so far! Cancer cells in various parts of her chest and abdomen are shrinking. She is almost halfway through her chemo treatments. Please continue to pray for her healing and that I would be a good friend and encourager to her during this difficult time.
You got it, Robert. We’ll keep praying for Faith. Thanks for the update on her encouraging progress. God is good.
Please pray for my brother and sister-in-law who recently moved abroad. Please pray for safety, wisdom and peace in their community. Things are not going well in their new city.
Amber,
Our prayers are with your brother’s family, and your family here.
Blessings to all
Ed
Please pray for my Grandfather, Ben Cole. He will be 93 in August and has been in and out of hosptials rehab and now healthcare at Covenant Woods. He was moved yet again to the hospital last night. He is miserable and is not really aware of his surroundings. Sometimes he does not know who you are. He gave up his will to live sometime ago and has no fight left in him. I am not sure why God has chosen to leave him here on earth. I do know He has a plan and He knows best.
Laurie,
I’ll be praying for you grandfather, and for the family as they minister to him.
Please pray for my family this week. I will be having surgery on Wednesday. My recovery is about 6 weeks, so please pray for a quick recovery and for Clay as he has to deal with taking care of me:) Also for my kids because they are having some trouble understanding why mommy is going to be like for awhile.
Kathryn,
We’ll definitely be praying for you and your family. Please let us know how you are doing. I’ll be glad to bring over a meal for you guys during your recovery time. Amber
My aunt in NC, who had health problems for several years, died on Tuesday night. She had a husband of 49 years, two children, and two grandchildren. Please pray for her husband, children, and other family members who are struggling with their loss right now. BYKOTA has prayed for my aunt throughout the years as she suffered heart complications due to the medicine she took for so many years after a kidney transplant. She also had cancer. Throughout her health challenges and long suffering, she remained strong in her faith and never lost hope in God. She had time to tell her husband and children goodbye and let them know that she was ready to go to her heavenly home. The way she handled her many struggles was a true testimony in faith. Thank you for the prayers.
I have been asking for prayer for my friend, Jessica, who had breast cancer that has returned. Here is a note from her explaining what is going on. Tomorrow is her birthday and she will have surgery. Please say a prayer for her, as I know there is power in numbers!***********
Well, it has been a crazy day and I wanted to let you all know what is going on. Met with the surgeon this morning and she told me that it is a whole new cancer and not a recurrence of the original one and how good is that so now they can treat me with chemo! Like I am so freaking excited to get to have chemo again. They know this because my last cancer was estrogen and progestoren positive (hormone receptor positive) and this one they are both negative. Which is good they will treat it with chemo, this one is actually worse to have becuse it is not treated as easily as my other one was (like that was easy). They tamoxofin that I have been taking will not help in treating to make sure this cancer will not come back. And to make it all even more great I get to get surgery on Wednesday, my birthday. What a great present. I am trying to think that the cancer getting taken out is my birthday present but it is hard to think that. I will get the rest of the tissue removed, a port put in for chemo and then also a sentenel node biopsy as well as they can since I’ve already had my sentinel nodes taken out. They may remove all of my lymph nodes under my armpit in which case I will have high chances of lympedema (swelling of the arm, can get very serious). So, I think I will also have radiation when chemo is over. I don’t know any more about the chemo plan, I have a dr. appt. on June 4 to go over all that. I have to be healed from surgery before I start the chemo.
I’m trying to hold it together and keep in mind that since it is a new cancer that means my treatment for the first one was successful but then I think how messed up is it that I get a whole new kind of breast cancer? It seems so wrong and I am trying really hard to keep a good attitude but I just want to kick and scream and say it is not fair.
I called my work and told them and they said they have a PTO bank and will see about getting me some paid time off which would really help. Dr. said I might have to take 2 weeks off of work and I only have 4 days of PTO.
Oh, and if I’m really lucky I will get to come home with drains in again. Lovely.
Sorry to be so gloomy.
Jessica
Thanks for praying for our family in the loss of my great Aunt. She lived a full life and died just shy of 98. Meredith took it well – they had a neat relaationship for a 98 year old nursing home patient and a 6 year old – and 4 generations apart!
We are excited to say that we are on the calendar! Our second baby girl will be arriving this Thursday, May 14th @ 7:30am via C-Section. Please be praying for us during this time of change and excitement!
Thanks,
Joe, Karol, and Abbie
Praise… we got the house and I did find out on Mother’s Day. Now we are waiting to hear how the inspection of our house here went. If all goes well we close on our existing home on June 1 and rent from the new owner until June 12. The closing on the new house is July 9th. The kids and I will be staying in NC after June 12th. Scott will be staying by Langley during this time and coming to NC on weekends.
Please continue to pray for Scott’s mom Carolyn. She had a stroke that is affecting the left side of her body and she is left handed. She is starting to swallow. Her blood pressure is extremely elevated.
Please also pray for Scott’s dad’s (Bill) heart to be softened so he will be the caregiver she needs after rehibilitation. He is a workaholic.
We pray that this stroke will be used to bring one or both of them to Christ.
Shelly & Scott
Please pray for our daughter Rachel. She is going through some extreme behavior issues at home. This situation puts a strain on our family in many ways. We are looking into help for her.
Clay and I also have to make an important decision about her for next year-whether to repeat first grade or not. It’s a very difficult decision and we are praying summer school catches her up enough to go to 2nd grade.
Please pray for a friend of ours Julie and her son Russ, Julie’s husband, Rusty, died suddenly Monday morning of a massive heart attack.
Please pray for Kenny and Carla S. and family. Carla’s grandmother passed away Saturday night. She had not been sick, and this was unexpected.
Please pray for Rebecca Moran. She is the 1 year old daughter of a close friend of ours Before she was born she was diagnosed with a heart defect that would require open heart surgery. She was born in March of last year at UVA and had her surgery there when she was only a few weeks old. The surgery was thought to have been a success. This past Friday they took her back to UVA for a check up and found that she has an aneurism on her heart. They are scheduling surgery in a few weeks to fix the aneurism and redo the heart surgery. We are all very scared and worried for her so please keep her in your prayers.
Thanks
Clay
Amber,
Grace’s grandmother has passed early this morning, please keep Grace in your prayers. I know Grace’s grandmother only as Oma Buikema, she was 95 – 96
Blessings,
Ed
Ed and Grace,
I’m praying for you guys.
Please pray for my friend, Jennifer, who has her first job interview on Tuesday at 10AM, since being laid off from Circuit City in January. She’s already had a phone interview with HR and is now having a phone interview with the hiring manager.
Thanks!
Jennifer Q.
Ed and Grace, It’s been an especially tough year in your family. Know that you are in my prayers. Your Uncle Lenny and Aunt Dottie–together for 60 years! What a great example. I pray that your Aunt Dottie will experience God’s divine comfort, presence and love during this time. Amber
Amber,
Once again, please keep our family in prayer, our Uncle Lenny, died 7:30 AM this morning of lung cancer. Our Aunt Dottie and Uncle Len have been together for 60 years and no children.
Blessings,
Ed
Amber and class. Please pray for our grandson, Cade, who we’ve just learned has a heart murmur and he’s going in for testing and other things tomorrow, Thursday.
I’m confident in our Lord to heal his little heart (he’s 9 months old) but your prayers are appreciated.
Blessings,
Thanks for sharing, Garry. I will be praying for Cade. Please let us know how his tests go.
Please pray for my sister Susan. She has mixed connective tissue disease which is a combination of 3 autoimmune diseases including Lupus and Rhuematoid Arthritis. She has been in remission for quite some time, but recently her disease has come out of remission and the docs don’t know why. Her main symptom is hives and they appear all over her body and can be debilitating. Please pray they will be able to determine why the disease came out of remission and what can be done to get it back in remission.
Thanks for sharing, Laurie. I’ll be praying for Susan…for wise doctors to figure it out, relief from the pain of hives, and for God’s healing power.
Please pray for the FIREPROOF study. Pray that God will use it to inspire renewed commitment and joy in marriages.
Please pray for the health of our BYKOTA children. Many of the BYKOTA kids have been sick. Some are recovering from surgery.
